Tips To Having Your Wedding Captured on VIdeo

People have videos of their wedding made for several  reasons. Once excellent reason is simply to cause those that weren’t lucky to be there a bit of jealousy. And if the wedding ceremony was held in the Bahamas or a foreign country, so much the better. The videographer can include outside location shots of the wedding location, fun recreational events that are taking place, and some of the areas unique points of interest.

Having a wedding videos produced is a perfect gift to give to yourselves as a newly married couple. How much is it worth? In the future, it’ll be priceless.

Every wedding needs a photographer to capture the events. But video can capture and convey things that a photo just can’t. A video can capture moods. It can capture emotion. It can capture sound. It can make you feel like you are there. A photo, is a moment in time. It captures that moment, but doesn’t capture what went before or after that moment. Both are good to have, but a wedding video really lets you truly relive the moment again.

The state and capabilities of video equipment has not stood still over the past ten year. Today,  professional videographers using state of the art video equipment and editing tools can churn out amazing videos that rival those produced by the major studios. In addition, the new digital formats allow editing equipment to place all kinds of special effects into the video which would have been unheard of a few years ago.

One technical question that you may want to ask the videographer is what type of format the video will be filmed in – digital high def or film. THe reason is the digital technology will let an editor include really incredible transitions and special effects and navigation techniques that won’t be possible on film.

Sometimes your wedding photographer will be the same person as your videographer, and sometimes they’ll be different. If they are different, you want to get them both together so they can co-ordinate their schedules, shot setups, and so on. They both will need schedules of what’s going on that day, at what time, and exactly which parts of the day and ceremony they each will be filming. You’ll especially need to let them know of any of the out of the ordinary special events that are happening at the wedding that you want to to be sure to capture on film.

As you are interviewing videographers, one of the questions you want to ask them is if they do the work themselves. Some videographers and video companies contract out a fair percentage of their work. So what you see in the sample videos, could or could not have been produced in-house. If you are paying the fee for them to do it, then they should do it and not farm the work out. The videographer contract will also specify how many DVD copies will be made, method of delivers, and so on.

Most video companies will have multiple cameras at the wedding event. This is so they can capture multiple events happening at once. For example, during the actual ceremony, one camera will of course be trained on the bride. But you want to capture the reactions of the guests as well. So one or more cameras will be aimed at the wedding guests.

Remembering The Good Times With Your Wedding Video

Do you remember how you and your spouse fell in love? And do you want to try to get that spark back? If you do, a video of your wedding may be just the thing to bring back all the good memories of when you were most in love with each other.

All marriages go through their ups and downs. It’s unavoidable that when two people live together for so long that occasionally there’ll be moments of disagreements, resentment, and boredom with your partner. But what was it that caused you two to get together in the first place? Taking some time out to re-watch your wedding videos and reflect on your marriage day may be just the spark to make you fall in love with your partner all over again.

Wedding videos are not simply a record of the wedding – although they are definitely that as well. But they should be more. Wedding videos are meant to convey the emotion of the event. That’s why simply aiming the camera at the studio hall and turning it on will not give you good results.

If you really want your wedding video to be a stellar production, you need to take a look at concert videos and borrow a bit from them. The camera pans to the stage and shows the performers. Then it pans back into the crowd to show the fan’s reactions – the screaming, shouting, clapping. The video of your wedding should do the same. Ideally it will catch the wedding guests at their points of joy, laughter, tears, and surprise.

Researchers have known for a while that our minds sometimes play tricks on us. On the day of the wedding, the bride and groom are so busy and events are moving so rapidly that they don’t really have the time and luxury to bask in the moment. In effect, they miss their own wedding. But a wedding video can give their wedding back to them. It can allow them to see, for the first time, their own wedding. They can relax and delight in the celebration in a way that they didn’t get to oon the day of the wedding. Years from now you’ll be more than happy that you chose to preserve this special moment in both of your lives.

So why not use your cousin instead of a professional videographer? You do it for the same reason that you use a professional photographer. You want the results to be professional. A professional videographer is an expert at his or her work. He knows what makes a good scene, how and where the microphones should be placed, what problems are likely to come up in the editing room, and much more. But  you want more than a video technical expert. You want someone with a vision. someone that can take your wedding day and turn it into a work of living, breathing art that conveys the full experience of your wedding day.

As the bridal couple, you both are the producers of your wedding video. Even though you don’t shoot or edit the video, you do decide what should be included and how it should be shot. You and your partner decide together what is important to you, what things and events that you want to capture on film for posterity.
