Every bride wants a beautiful invitation for her wedding day.  One she can frame and remember for the rest of her life.  Being in control of this process is a great way to ensure you have exactly what you want, but making your own either with wedding invitation kits or completely from scratch is a big step especially when you can’t be quite sure of the final outcome.  Well, now it is easier than ever to create a few wedding invitation samples before you dive head first into deep waters.

Creating a few samples first will allow you to show them to your friends and/or relatives to get some opinions first before making a decision. This step allows you to be confident that the final outcome is exactly what you expected.  The last thing you need when planning a wedding are “surprises”.  The following are some tips for creating your own wedding invitation samples.

1. Start with a good word processing program. Word is one of the better word processing applications but most of them will work and have downloadable templates for wedding invitations.  Just take a few minutes and browse through the selections and pick a few that you like.  Download the ones you like best and leave the others bookmarked in the event you aren’t happy with your first few choices. Most templates are free to download and can be found online.
2. Choose your card stock. Good, quality stock is best when choosing paper.  If you are unsure of the type of stock or color, then just buy one ream of stock in the color or grade you are thinking of using.  Then test it and see if it is what you want.  This enables you to get a good and true picture of the look and feel of the invitation.  By testing in small quantities first, you will save yourself a lot of time and money plus the added stress that comes with the planning process.
3. Using a digital laser printer, insert the paper stock of your choice. If you do not have a quality printer then have a local printer duplicate the invitation on various card stocks by printing a sample on plain white paper and taking it to them for duplication. Standard size is 8 1/2 by 11 but any size that suits your tastes will work.
4. Fold your invitation and trim away any excess. If your invitation is only one sheet then this step is not needed.
5. Embellish each sample invitation differently with your own personal touches to get an idea of how each one will look.
6. Next, choose the one you like best and move forward with the creation process. Another set of eyes is always a good idea so get several opinions from friends and/or family members.
