Honeymoon Planning

A honeymoon should be a special time of bonding and relaxation. Yet, failing to appropriately plan it can result in it being frustrating and stressful. Here is some advice to make sure your honeymoon goes as well as possible.

Of the utmost importance is to talk over with your fiance each others preferences in relation to the honeymoon. Do not assume that you are inherently aware of the type of honeymoon your fiance would choose. Have a thorough discussion of location, budget, duration and accommodation. Both of you should first write an individual list of preferences and then you should compare and highlight aspects that overlap.

Travel agents can be a great help with the planning of a honeymoon and can assist you in making the best decisions based on you and your spouse’s preferences. Honeymoons are one of the few areas that travel agents still receive a commission on booking, meaning that they will normally put extra effort in to helping you.

After you have met with a travel agent and have an idea of the approximate cost, make a savings plan and begin setting money aside for it on a weekly basis. You could also ask the travel agent if they offer a honeymoon registry, which allows guests to pay a portion of your honeymoon costs in lieu of a wedding gift.

Try to prepay as much as possible. Incidental expenses like gratuities and souvenirs~souvenirs and tips}, are of little concern; however, should you forget to allocate money for extra luggage, car rental or day trips, you can easily find yourselves worrying about money when away.

Once you have booked and budgeted your money, the last thing to do is pack. Do this well in advance because it will be something less to concern yourself with in the hectic run up to your wedding. If you leave it until the last minute, the greater likelihood there is of you forgetting something.
